I just got this in the mail yesterday. It is the "Chocolate Sock Pack" from Woolgirl and I am just thrilled. I can't wait to dive into the sock yarn, pattern and stitch marker. The box of chocolates is already a fatality LOL

Been soooo Busy

Well I have put off posting to my blog because I hate to blog without pics and all of my cameras seem to have disappeared into thin air since our last move. We have now moved about 5 times since we got here to Montana but are temporarily settled in Kalispell just across the HWY from Somers. I have been working anywhere between 2 and 5 jobs to try and keep our head above water and to hopefully save a bit to buy a home of our own. Life has taken a complete 180 on me and I am doing all I can just to stay afloat. Thank God for my nursing degree. I do so want to go back and complete my bachelor's with the expectation of a Nurse Practitioners license on the horizon but there is just no funding for that right now. I once again have done my job so well as to put myself out of work. My bread and butter job is a 12 hour night shift which is now 3 nights a week and I take care of an 11 month old girl who is very ill. She is scheduled to have her trach taken out tomorrow and they will no longer need a nurse. My other jobs are all very part time so I have to hit the resume trail again and score another full time position. God is good. I have no doubt He will bring me to just the right job to meet our needs.
Anyway, Jason has gotten me a new camera which I will probably not have until Christmas but at least I will be blogging more after the holidays. I have been using this time at work to knit up a storm when the baby is sleeping and I will be getting pics and posting them of all my new progress. I seem to be loving lace lately and that surprises me as I usually don't go for the little fiddely stuff. LOL Take care all of you and remember to pray for those you love.. JoyB

So I am back! I have had one hell of a challenge lately in changing states to Montana, changing jobs and homes and returning to Oregon to assist with my father's care. I am now back in Montana and trying to find work in nursing. I have several leads I need to go check out today but wanted to share an update with you first. I signed up for DishRag Tag once again. We took first place last round so I am hoping we will do well again this round. I have not had time to knit or quiilt or much of anything lately so this will be a wonderful way to make time and do some extra dishrags for a local shelter here as well.

I know I have promised quite a few updates but with travel and holidays, it has been crazy. I did want to post a few pics of my grandson, Jacob's, 3rd birthday. My Dd, Sara Joy, did a great job of putting together a pirate themed party for him at a park in Wilsonville and we all had a great time. Just had to Rant

Ok I had to share my frustration with all of you. This is the first socks I have tried to use my square needles with and THEY SUCK! Don’t get me wrong, I love the way they feel but it was taking me forever to get the stitches back on the needle to work them ( I am doing Magic Loop). The connection is so rough and the cables so soft that I had to literally pull on the cable while I moved each stitch over with my thumbnail!! I was thinking "okay I can do this" and trying to find a better way but not getting any progress. The last straw was that the last round I did I went to slide the stitches over to the needle and I was barely pulling on it and the cable came off thru the stitches leaving all but four of them just hanging free )(&$##$@#))+__&^^$$@!!&(. And so on.) So I run get my Knitpicks and put those stitches on it real quick so that I don’t drop any of them and then put the last 4 still on my needle on it too. Needless to say I then had to put the remainder of the stitches on the new needle and that was a trainwreck. I got it and have done three more repeats and it is fine now and I am going so much faster but I had to tell you.. Square needles and Magic loop are cause for much cussing and several shots of Bacardi!! Thanks for letting me vent. Hugs. JoyB

A bit of an interruption.. Spring Fling

I am just going to post a quick "cut and paste" that I sent to my IQ group about my recent trip to St Louis this last weekend. The pic is of my dear friend Kim in Missouri and I on Saturday night. Pineapple margaritas rock !!

As for me I just got back Sunday night from a 4 day retreat in St Louis. I spent thursday getting to meet three online knitting friends and we all had so much in common. One of the gals is from the other side of Missouri and the other two drove over from Wisconsin for the weekend. I took two sock classes from Wendy of WendyKnits and I can now do toe up socks and am designing my own sock pattern. She is a wonderfully funny lady with a very famous cat named Lucy who has her own fan club LOL.

Friday morning we got on a shuttle bus to the yarn shop ( Loopy Ewe) and I was so good. I only spent what I had budgeted to spend and still came home with some luscious yarn. Kim decided to get the same yarn and we are knitting the same scarf with it. It has a silver thread that runs thru it and boy is it yummy. Friday afternoon was my toe up class and we were too tired to eat much that night so we nibbled off the buffet they had set up for us. Saturday started with a free period in the morning to sit and knit ( or sleep in LOL) and then that afternoon was my second class on sock design. That night we all took Yvonne's car and went into town and walked what they call Delmar Loop. It was wonderful and everyone there was so friendly. We visited a yarn shop called Knitty Couture and I picked up a little stitch dictionary to use for my designing and then the other three had to have one as well. I think we bought them out . Lynne's son is in the seminary there and she and Yvonne had gone friday to visit him and do some sightseeing and he had suggested we go to Blueberry Hill for dinner . So we did. The food was great and so was the music.

We walked around a bit more and did some window shopping and then drove back to the hotel to knit and chat and share all our goodies. The next morning Kim and I had to get up and out early to catch the shuttle to the airport as our planes left that monring. I got to the airport and got checked in only to find they has overbooked the flight and were seeking volunteers to take a later flight out so I did just that. I got out 4 hours later and was routed thru Dallas instead of Seattle but that was fine. I got a 300 dollar travel voucher that will get Jason and I both to Vegas and back in June for our anniversary. I also got to teach several ladies how to cast on and do a knit stitch while I waited and on the last leg of my flight.

God is sooooo good. I was so anxious about flying all that way by myself and I had no need to worry. I actually enjoyed the trip and can't wait to get back on a plane and visit again.

Sorry to be so long winded. I just couldn't wait to share with all of you the blessing God shared with me on this trip. Praying that you all have similar blessings and Praise God that He loves us. Hugs. JoyB

Well I had to frog my Marlene's which took many tears and an entire day of grieving but I promise to get back to them soon. I love love love that pattern. In the mean time I got my "Bruised" yarn for Sarah at Perfect Day Yarns and I am so thrilled with it. I also got a skein of "I Bite" which I plan to use very soon. One of the gals on Ravelry ( LaLa) at the Loopy Ewe group mentioned that she really likes the Charade socks and I was not impressed with the yarns they used but I went ahead and cast them on in this Bruised colorway and they are fast and fantastic. Here is my update on the progress on my socks. Remember I have only cast these on in the last 24 hours and have had little time to work on them. Hugs. JoyB

Lovely cables

Okay pic time again. About a week ago I had finished doing a mystery KAl on the Knook and did mine in Fisherman's Wool Ease instead of the traditional cotton as I wanted to see what it would look like and how the yarn was to use. So. Here is a pic of my finished cable dishcloth. It is blocked and I just have to waeave the ends in which I plan to do this weekend. Potato chips and sock yarn...

Well my husband is pretty easy to get along with but the one thing that he hates more than anything is crumbs in our bed. So..Darling Penny from the WhoDuKnit group had made some of these and I contacted her to see if she was willing to make some up for me. As soon as they came, I took the bag and sprinkled them on the bed. I know you see it coming LOL Yep Jason came home and started to fume about the chips and then preceeded to pick them up only to find out that they are felted and they did not come with crumbs ROFLOL>> He loved the joke and I fear he is now looking onto the depths of his mind to get even but still. They are amazing and I am so thankful to Penny for being willing to make them for me.
As payment for the chips, I offered to dye her up some sock yarn in the color of her choice and she (of course) suggested PINK!! LOL. So here are the two skeins I dyed up for her to choose from. One is a pink and grey with cream that I call Fallen in Love and the other is s lighter pink with lots more cream that I call Cotton Candy.. So Penny take your pick and let me know and I will get it right off to you. Again thank you so much and I can't wait to see what else you come up with. Hugs.JoyB

Guess Who Got Magic Loop??

Yep thanks to Kim in Oregon, I was able to sit down and work out Magic Loop for my socks. I was really surprised how simple it was. I had really struggled with 2 socks on 2 circs and Dpn's were killing me (although I was able to get a sock knit that way). Ok so the cowl/headband is done and ready to mail. I love the blood red glittery yarn. Just perfect for this swap. I also got some new sock yarn a few weeks ago at JoAnn's and I am making my next pair of socks from the directions on the inside of the ball band and I love how they are turning out. I have put the second of my first pair on hold as I lost the instructions for the sock and I can get more but these had the handwritten changes I had made to the first one . I may just have to use the first sock as a pattern and go from there but in the meantime.... Here are pics of the cowl and the second pair of socks in progress. Hugs. JoyB

My Part of the Deal

So after many calls and failed attempts to get Jason just the right new truck we finally got one. After he had everything that he wanted and the dealership got what they wanted, I told the salesman that I had done all the work and that I had one demand. I wanted the huge blow up monkey for my grandson. Yes of course he thought I was nuts but he was not going to let a car deal fall thru over a monkey so guess what Jacob has now!! Yep One huge blow up monkey LOL. You should have seen us driving home with it in the back of my car between Jon and Angel. This thing is huge. Hugs. JoyB

Ok so tonite I had just gotten two sets of Addi Turbos for my 2 socks on two circulars class in March at Naked Sheep and I just couldn't wait to try them out so I took up with my favorite sock yarn in the Bunny Foo Foo colorway and knitted a test swatch to make sure I got the right sized needles so my socks will fit.. You all who have followed my blog for a minute, may recognize this sock yarn as the yarn I used for my second attempt at socks and the sock was way too big. Here I go trying it out again and of course now I can't find the pattern LOL. I do however love working with the Addi's and am happy that my tension looks even and that this yarn is just so yummy it makes me hungry to knit with it. So here is my pic. Hugs. JoyB

At least for tonite. I have alot of knitting to do for various swaps. So I am going to leave you with pics of the yarn cooling in the sink and then finally the skein laid out on the towel to dry. I am one satisfied customer and will be happy to see the final product after it is dried but I am very hopeful that it will be a great skein of yarn as when I rinsed it, I got no dye back out of it and the colors are very rich and bright. Now I just need to find a die-hard Portland Trailblazer fan to buy this off me so I can dye more LOL JoyB

Dyeing Yarn Part Deux

OK so yes I am wearing my gloves for this and yes I have all my supplies ready, I laid the yarn out on the plastic wrap as suggested, then I mixed up and painted on the dyes with foam brushes, then I wrapped the whole thing up in what DYI calls a Plastic wrap burrito and then it goes in the microwave for 12 minutes ( in a bowl of water). It has just beeped at me so I am off to see what it looks like and if I need to " steam" it some more based on how much dye rinses out but I have to cool it first so here are some pics. The only fatality seems to be the white towel that was ruined to begin with so it is all good LOl JoyB

Well all of my supplies came today from KnitPicks and I am going to be up most of the night but I am so excited to be dyeing my first skein of yarn. I have still not even decided what colors to use but I saw some online in a colorway called Run Like Hell and it was so pretty that I am hoping to recreate it. So here are the pics of the yarn I am using, the dyes I am using and the stuff all layed out soaking in the warm water for 20 minutes looking like bad spaghetti. LOl

I did manage to get to the only yarn place in Maui on my way back to the airport to return home. It is Ben Frankin's Crafts and they don't have anything that we don't have here except it is more expensive.. I did pick up 3 skeins of Cascades 220 in ocean colors and two skeins of cotton that reminded me of the islands. Now to figure out what I can knit with them. Here is the pic of the yarn. OK so ever since Jane was so kind to send me this amazing yarn and buttons in our Trick or Treat Swap, I have not been able to put this stuff down. I just finished a button tab hat with both the yarn and one of the buttons and I love it! See Jane all your hard work in picking out my wonderful gift did not go to waste. Swiffer cover finished

So first thing this morning I got caught up on some rows for a KAL DC and then I finished sewing up my swiffer cover. This one is done in Cotton Ease with a ball of Purple and a ball of Lime. I found the pattern on Ravelry and she had used these same colors which I thought was so fun. I know I told most of my groups that I was going to bed.. and in my defense that is where I have been but instead of sleeping, I was knitting the last days rows of this dishcloth for the KnitDishcloth group. I love how it turned out and am going to make another for a friend who is a breast cancer survivor. Both Mufasa and Mercy think I am nuts. Well today I got my box for DRT and it took me only 5 hours to get it finished and boxed up to go on to our final participant. I am thrilled with the way it turned out and, even though we are not going to win this round, it is an honor to get to knit the pattern.

Idget is doing so much better. Thank you to everyone who sent up prayers on his behalf. I think he is going to make a full recovery. He sure does love the DRT dishcloth. Baby Shower gift

Here is the hat I just finished for Patches new arrival. Her baby girl is due next month and the doctor's have already told her that it will need a series of surgeries after delivery, so the knitting group in Salem is making her gifts that will be given to her at a surprise shower tomorrow. New Storage Solution

I recently kept hearing about storage problems with yarn and it has my head thinking, I may just need to go there some time really soon. LOl But in the meantime I did get an idea for a storage unit for the chicklets school stuff. I love it and got the three main bookcases at Ikea for less than 60 dollars apiece. It serves as a place by my backdoor where we can organize things for the girls for school and also for mailing and delivery. Here is the pic. JoyB

Prayers for Idget

As many of you know, Our precious baby Idget ( or Idgie as we call him) was hit by a car on Saturday and no one stopped. The girls brought the kitten in to tell me it was bleeding and we rushed it to the vet. Long story short. It has a possible skull fracture, a serious concussion and mulitple other injuries. The fabulous people at the Carlton Vet Clinic came in to see him and took care of him for the first night and most of the next day. I got him home last night and he seems to be doing ok. He is eating and drinking but is still in some pain and leaning either right or left depending on his movements. He tends to want to fall off things so I have been spending most of my days on the bed with him knitting and petting him. He is still active enought to want to steal or eat my yarn as it moves past his field of vision towards my needles. LOL. Here is the first pic of him at home. Hugs. JoyB

OK so many of you have been asking what I am currently working on so I thought I would share my latest. Here it is... The Simple Cabled Hat. This is the pattern that Kim suggested we do and we worked on during our last visit. I am loving the way it is turning out but I must say that I would do the next one in a single strand of bulky yarn instead of the double strands of worsted weight that I chose. The twists on the cables are murder to knit but I will not give up LOL!!! Hugs, JoyB

Trip to Kim's

So yesterday was a blast. I got to go with Jason to Eugene to visit our friends Kim and Scott. We were working on a cabled hat that Shirley's group is doing as a Knit A Long and share some serious chatting and giggling with Kim while Jason ran off for a Deep Tissue massage and Scott was at work. Scott did make it back in time to spend some time with us before we had to depart and as usual it was great to see both of them. Here are just a few of the pics we took of our visit. Notice that I have the piece of cake in my hands as I am leaving for Mary's place. And YES it was hard but I didn't eat it before I gave it to Mary. The pumpkin cake Kim made was to die for. YUMMO. Well It is official. I got my death hat in the mail late last night upon my return from Kim's house and it is gorgeous. I have befriended my Assassin and hope to stay in contact with her. As luck would have it, she has a daughter who lives in Maui where we are planning to go for a week next month! She is a wealth of information about the area and I am so grateful as we have never been there before and want to be sure that we are seeing and doing all the really " must see" stuff while we are there. Hat Attack weapon done!!!

I am so excited I can hardly sit still. I just completed my first hat as part of the Hat Attack competition and I struggled with this one. It was no walk in the park but I got it done and I am so thrilled with the way it turned out!! It is off in the mail tomorrow to my victim and, according to my assassin, I should have mine in a day or two so this may be my only " Kill" with this hat but I am just so jazzed to have done a hat and had it turn out so well. OK I just started back to Weight Watchers and I had to show you why. This is me at my heaviest, a whopping 237 pounds. I have since lost almost 40 pounds but I am not quite where I want to be yet. Yet another trip to Lincoln City

After being home for two weeks, I had decided that we should get a room at Coho Inn and stay with the Chicklet's, Jon, Angel and the two of us. We had a great time. Most of our entertainment came from the pile of cars on the beach trying to pull each other out and getting more and more cars/trucks stuck in the sand outside our balcony ( wish I had pics of that) LOL I guess that is why the sign says " No vehicles beyond this point?". Just a thought !!!

As some of you know, we spent two weeks at Pacific City again and took alot of pics. Here are a few for you. We had a great time with fireworks down on the beach, Jason's 30th Birthday and all of the friends and family we could round up for the festivities. Today my only grandbaby turned two and after the kids all wore themselves out at Safari Sam's, they came back to my house to open presents and have a BBQ and cake. It was a great day and I think Jacob was overhelmed with all the presents he recieved. I know Sara was grateful. Ok here are some pics of the family, Jacob and friends. Guess my middle name and win a kitten LOL. Ok I had to come up with something. As I was writing my emails tonite my momma kitty decided to start spitting out kitties at my feet. At first there were only two of them a boy and a girl both grey wth stripes one much lighter than the other. Now as I come to check on her again, she has managed to have two more. These two appear darker but with the same infamous stripes. These last two appear to be boys as well. I do not think that she is done going thru the joys of "kittenbirth" as she is stretching and pulling at her legs in a sort of uncomfortable dance of life. Here are the first two pics. Ok Still Knitting in Vegas

So I am spending a week in Las Vegas with my adorable Jason to celebrate our anniversary and I am loving it here. It was 104 degrees here yesterday but when I heard that it was 61 and raining in Oregon and actually snowing in Montana, I was thrilled to be here. LOL. Here are some pics of our timeshare and the two dc's that I have finished and am ready to mail as soon as we get home. I visited with Charles who is an online friend here at his LYS, Wooley Wonders, and it is amazing. I got some great yarn that I have already started to knit with and am making the LionBrand Lacy Stole with some of it. I will have pics of it as soon as I am a bit farther along. I am so hoping to do a Sit and Knit with Charles again tomorrow night but am waiting to hear if he is available. It would be great to work with him and the amazing crew at WW. Ok here are the pics. Kim is a good friend in one of my knitting groups and she has mentioned that she is making a twin set and it got me to thinking I need to be working on mine as soon as the postcards are finished. I wanted to post some pics of the one I have picked out and purchased yarn for. It is from Sensual Knits by Yahaira Ferreira. Time to get with the Program

So I have been involved since April in a Fabric Postcard swap and I have done nothing but struggle to get these made and out to the folks that have sent me such wonderful cards. So my plan is to now get caught up with these commitments and get the majority of cards out before I run off to Vegas on June 7th. I am posting the pics of the groups of cards I have received, as I am working on my cards for that swap and then as I mail them I will keep myself focused by posting the next two groups I need to complete. The plan is to start with the first cards due and work thru the last ones due and then start on birthday cards. I only have a few of those to do and hopefully everyone will understand that I feel horrible to be behind in these swaps and happy to receive my cards. Camping at Pacific City TT

I am sorry to have been absent for a bit. J and I took the travel trailer to PC and found that the only way we could guarantee a good spot ( with cable) for Memorial Day weekend was to extend our reservation so that is what we did. We have had a trailer full of family and friends and more are coming on friday.. With a 29 ft trailer and two tents, we are putting up about 14 people. Crazy I know but oh so much fun. Our days are filled with riding 4 wheelers at Sand Lake and walking the beach at Pacific City. We ate out our first night there at the Pelican Pub and brewery and their food ( and beer) is fantastic as always.
I am getting alot of knitting done even with all the kids in and out LOL.
I am also doing alot of reading. I just finished Debbie Macombers Shop On Blossom Street. it was great and I was hoping to get the next in the series but it looks like I will have to try to find it at one of the used bookstores in Lincoln City as my library does not have it .
I am reading a Lisa Scottoline book called Devil's Corner for one of my bookclubs. Just started it but it seems to be really a good read and I just checked out both books for the Naked Sheep reading group.. I will post pics when I get back. I have so many to show you, including the fish I caught ( yes I actually caught one) LOLOL. TTYS, Hugs. JoyB

OK so I started back on my Mystic Light Shawl last night and was up all night working on it. This morning when Jacob got up and around was a good time to put it away for a bit LOL. Not a project to work on with a almost 2 year old in tow.. So I started it and then I tore it out . then I started again and tore it out. Third time was the charm and I got it on and then I only had to take it back a few rows about 4 times LOL My stitch count was off. My mind may have been a bit foggy after about 4 Am but I wanted to work on it til I got to see the transition from the first color to the second. I got there !! Woo Hoo.

It is now two shades of green and I am about to get some blue in this one. I can't wait. Anyway, sorry for the crappy pic of myself but I am still sick. Here is Jacob and gramma and of course a pic of the shawl with Kaini EQ. Hugs. Joyb

Somebody Get Me Some Superglue!!

Oh this darned thing wants to be a sweater so bad. First I sewed the shoulders and funnelneck up, then could not get it over my head. The cast off row is too tight so I tore out the side seam and decided to sew on the sleeves first and then the sides and leave the rework of the neck castoff til last. Well of course the armholes for the sleeves are miles bigger than the sleeves themselves so I am not getting much done in the way of actually having a sweater I can wear.

I wanna pitch a fit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WWWWHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..
